The law of property operates in both a domestic and commercial context, and relates to registered and unregistered land, freeholds and leaseholds, the whole or part of a landholding, and new and existing properties.
Practitioners in this area need to be able to manage the different stages of a property transaction; draft and amend the necessary documentation; have good negotiation skills; and work with their client in order to achieve their client’s goals. In addition, the subject area requires knowledge of solicitors’ accounts and professional conduct rules, as well as aspects of financial services and tax law.
‘Property Law and Practice’ is a compulsory element in The City Law School’s LPC course and will prepare you to conduct straightforward property transactions. You will become familiar with the key stages and documents associated with transactions; work on your drafting skills; and understand how to advise clients and help them to achieve their goals.
